Ed’s Recommendations for Maintaining Your Vehicle’s Leather Interior
1. Protect Against Rubbing, Scratching and Tearing
Leather is one tough material, but even it can be damaged by letting things rub, scratch or abrade it, especially things like the sharp bases of car-seats. Prevent damage to your vehicle’s interior by putting a towel between such objects and your leather upholstery.
2. Keep your Leather Clean
It takes more than just a quick vacuuming now and then to preserve your car’s leather interior. Once you’ve dealt with all the accumulated dirt and dog hair, don’t forget to use a good quality leather cleaner. Ed likes Lexol®. This spray-on cleaner loosens dirt and protects leather from drying out and cracking. You’d be surprised by just how much a little leather cleaner can extend the life and preserve the beauty of your car’s leather interior.
3. Get in the Groove
Ed recommends getting in the habit of cleaning your entire car interior at least twice a year, and giving the driver’s area and seat a thorough cleaning at least three times a year (as this is the most-used part of your car). Also, make sure you clean up any spills right away with a damp cloth to prevent staining and sticky spots. Getting in the routine of keeping your vehicle’s leather interior clean will play a big part in preventing wear and tear and keeping your vehicle looking new for years to come – which is not only to your benefit, but will also help increase your vehicle’s resale or trade-in value.
